Since its inception in 2008, the Red Ball has raised about $700,000 for Red Cross programs and services.

A Red Ball Who’s Who

The Red Ball 2009 Honorary Chairmen were Susie and Mike Chesser, Chairman and CEO of Great Plains Energy.
Joe and Suzanne Donnelly and Willie and Kelly Lanier, Jr., co-chaired the 2009 event. This year, Sally Hilkene and Patty and Scott Mach are taking over as co-chairs.

Crowd Pleasers
If you’re looking for quality entertainment, mark the Red Ball 2010 on your calendar. The Temptations headlined the inaugural event in 2008, and last year, Red Ball guests discoed on down with Gloria Gaynor. Changing the era once again, the Red Ball put Jazz-band swing on the menu for the 2010 show. Who’s ready for Big Bad Voodoo Daddy?

Sporting a Sell-Out Crowd
More than 1,600 people have joined the American Red Cross in celebrating its Red Ball event. In fact, the event sold out in 2008.

It’s All About the Location
Typically, the Red Cross spends most of its time at disaster sites surrounded wobbly walls and missing roofs. So it when it was given the chance to open its signature event at the newly constructed Sprint Center in 2008, we jumped at the chance. The Red Ball was one of the first events ever to occur at the new Kansas City landmark.

Supporting Kansas City Families
Last year, the Red Ball started its “Fund a Family” auction, and thanks to the Red Ball donors and guests, the auction raised more than $50,000 for the Chapter’s programs and services. Look for the auction at the 2010 event too.
